Home Movies are a dose of 90's humor: along with the lack of cellphones, a strong sense of apathy both in the scripting and animation, and the general glorification of laziness. Home Movies is down to earth as it is whimsical. The protagonist Brendon Small is just a normal 8 year old school kid in school who often has a series of obstacles to defeat in each episode. His mentor Couch McGuirk, a loser who can't get over his high school years, often gives Brendon the advice he doesn't need.
Home Movies Season 1 aired on Cartoon Network and Adult Swim in 1999. It was made with Squigglevision, which is a more or less primitive version of flash (the program that makes most games online). This gives the show a grungy voice: think, this is the age of Nirvana.
I give this show five stars, slightly for being nostalgic and also for just being the type of show I love. I highly recommend it.
